Jubair Shawan’s creative journey began one and a half decades ago at Rajshahi University where he learnt how to explore the magic of storytelling and utilize the power of communication with a view to making a real difference. He studied Mass Communication and Journalism, but
classrooms were never enough for him. Along with other extra-curricular activities, throughout his university life, Shawan performed on stage, bringing characters and stories to life and touched people’s hearts.
The relentless passion for literature and poetry that Jubair Shawan found in himself in university life, in the long run, has encouraged him to amplify the voices of the marginalized through creative works. He also passionately played his part in sculpting the cultural landscape of his nation, adding unique footprints upon its collective consciousness.
He eventually had to leave behind the familiar atmosphere of Rajshahi University and chase his dreams in a busier city, Dhaka. Amidst the chaotic rhythm of his life in the capital city, he successfully started a new career dedicated to serving the underprivileged children, using his academic knowledge in mass communication as an effective tool.
He considers himself fortunate enough as, at times, he has got great opportunities like working for the Bangladeshi film and television industry. With a director’s eye and a writer’s pen, he breathed life into stories that danced between the realms of reality and reverie, infusing each frame with the lyrical touch of his poetic soul. Until today, he has made commercials, TV shows and a good number of other visual contents, collaborating with Bangladesh’s creative landscape and crafting narratives that touched the hearts of many.
After joining a2i, the pioneer of innovation and progress in Bangladesh, he has been unleashing his skills in content development, campaign strategy, and storytelling, harnessing the power of media to drive social change. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jubair Shawan orchestrated a concord of communication that resonated across borders. His collaborations spanned over continents, his designs left an indelible imprint on the national consciousness.
But Shawan believes his greatest mission is yet to be accomplished. With commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, he is on a journey to play his part in shaping the future of Bangladesh through the power of communication and cultural activities. Creating and executing a 360-degree communication strategy, he has set his sights on realizing the nation’s vision for 2041, ensuring that every voice is heard, every story told.
For Jubair Shawan, the lines between art and activism are always already blurred, giving rise to narratives that transcend borders and inspire. Deep within Bangladesh’s vibrant chaos, as a dreamer he would like to remind us that powerful communication makes almost everything achievable.
